Nigeria Zip Codes | Postal Codes for All States in Nigeria

Many have been wondering what ZIP codes actually means. ZIP codes simply means Zone Improvement Plan (ZIP) codes and it only applies to the US. In all other countries of the world, the postal codes are used. The United State does not accept Postal codes as ZIP code. Howbeit, ZIP codes is used for similar purpose as the Postal codes. The ZIP codes which are essentially used for mailing purpose is implied as postal codes in Nigeria and other countries.

Hence, Zip codes is-to United State as Postal codes isto Nigeria and other countries.

9 Region of the Nigerian Postal code division

The Nigeria Zip Codes / Postal code is made up of 6 numeric digits. The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) divides the country into Nine (9) regions which makes up the first digit of the postcode. The second and the third digit of the Nigeria Postal codes or Zip codes are combined with the first code. The combination serves as the dispatch district for outgoing sorting. The last three digits of postal codes are meant for deliveries.

Nigeria Postal Codes Head office in each region

The main postal head office in each region will have a postal codethat will certainly ends with 001. For instance:

Lagos has the lowest postcode digit while Abuja, Garki has the highest postcode/zip code digits.

The Nigeria Postal Codes still functioning?

The answer is yes, the Nigerian Postal codes still functions regardless of the availability of email and internet/ social network. Other big companies like FEDEX, DHL, UPS, etc could not as well displace the Nigeria Postal Service. This is because NIPOST delivers goods and letters faster. NIPOST also issue out the P.O.BOX addresses which makes them even more significant.
